Frying pans are our best-selling pans and we have carefully selected what we regard as the best quality pans in each price range. For a 20cm omelette pan prices range from £19.50 for a Masterclass ceramic non-stick to over £100 for a premium Scanpan or Le Creuset 3 ply stainless pan. Whilst we sell more non-stick frying pans than other finishes, stainless steel, ceramic eco pans and pre-seasoned naturally non-stick pans are growing in popularity.
Thinking non-stick? Non-stick frying pans have many advantages for day to day use and are quick and easy to clean. All of our non-stick fry pans are PFOA free, hard anodised and multi layered, so if used properly they will last for years and have little or no chance of losing their surface. Two non-stick pans have exceptional surfaces and are even tough enough to withstand metal tools. At a premium level Scanpan from Denmark offer exceptional non-stick pans made using recycled aluminium in a solar powered factory with a surface that survives very demanding tests.
Our pick is the new attractive CS+ range clad in a single piece of stainless steel for use on all hobs and in the oven up to 260 degrees.
At a mid-range price level the new Circulon A1 extreme non-stick is an exceptional layered great value product with a handle than can be used in the oven up to 210 degrees. They will soon to be releasing a stainless steel clad range that looks very impressive.

Ensuring your pans last The key to ensuring your non-stick pans have a long life is to avoid high heat. This is vital especially on induction hobs. Simply let the pans build the heat and then release it. When it comes to washing them allow the pan to cool before soaking in hot soapy water, this avoids a thermal shock when putting a hot pan in cooler water – which can actually make any remains stick on harder. If something really won’t budge a gentle boil with a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda is usually effective. Although most of the non-stick is dishwasher safe we always recommend handwashing to prolong the life of the surface.
Alternatives to Non-stick
3 Ply Stainless steel3 ply stainless steel pans are proving increasingly popular and the Le Creuset 3 ply one piece of metal pans are a great choice. Stellar and Scanpan have other options too.
Using a medium heat is also the key to avoid eggs and other products sticking, simply let the pan do the work.

Naturally non-stick pans In addition we have some naturally non-stick products that are seasoned with an oil that burns at a high temperature.
These include the Shropshire made spun iron pans from Netherton Foundry, pre-seasoned with flax oil, and the Scanpan black iron which is pre-seasoned with vegetable oil in a similar way. With a pre-seasoned pan you don’t use washing up liquid as this will remove the seasoning layer and you will need to re-season frequently. All our pans come with cleaning and care instructions.

Eco Pans If you want an alternative to non-stick the Prestige ceramic Earth pan made in Italy is the lightest of our options and is a Which? best buy too. We also have ceramic finished pans from MasterClass and a range with a plant-based finish too.

Whichever frying pan you choose it should give you years of good service provided you don’t over heat it and you let the pan do the work!!!!!!
